Rendering for VR is available for *TachyonL-OptiX* versions of VMD.
(render mode -> "TachyonLOptiXInternal")

Try the version below on Linux.

* Version 1.9.4 LATEST ALPHA (2022-04-27)*
LINUX_64 (RHEL 7+) OpenGL, CUDA, *OptiX* RTX, OSPRay, RTX RTRT
