Dear Edward,

I cannot comment on what the official VMD binaries will require. It should be possible to compile a build that works on all 64-bit macOS versions.
macOS versions currently supported by upstream are 10.13 High Sierra, 10.14 Mojave, and 10.15 Catalina.

My “test build” is just a test build, I wanted to check what is working and missing on Catalina, and help some colleagues who were sorely missing VMD :)
I am confident enough in it that I am using it myself in production, though.
