Hi,
You didn't say what operating systme you're using, but if you're running
a Linux version of VMD 1.9.4 alpha, you can use the OptiX/CUDA version
of my ray tracing engines that support alpha channel output.
If you use the TachyonLOptiXInternal or TachyonLOptiXInteractive
renderers in the render menu, you can set a special environment
variable in VMD and enable alpha-channel output and use PNG as the
image output file type, e.g. in the VMD text console do:
set env(VMDOPTIXWRITEALPHA) 1
render TachyonLOptiXInternal alphachannel.png
Best regards,
John Stone
