You can access the components of a list with "lindex" (usual TCL). In your
case :

set centerz [lindex $com1 2]

Is there a way to get only the z-component out of the measure center
command?

If I do this, set com1 [measure center $AMT weight mass], I would like to
get the z-coordinate/component

only from that measure command.
