Dear VMD-L,
  I've just posted VMD 1.8.7 beta 1 for download.
At the present time I've only posted binaries for
the mainstream Linux, MacOS X, Solaris, and Windows
platforms, but I will be adding builds for other platforms
over the next few days, and still more will become available
in the next beta release.

Beta 1 is not quite feature-complete yet, a few items
we're debugging are still turned off in this version, but
it is largely representative of what the final release will
look like.

If you have trouble downloading, installing, or running
the beta versions, please let me know.

The VMD README file attached to this email contains a
partial list of the new features in VMD 1.8.7 beta 1.
