Hi,
  What platform are you running on? Can you send me the startup
messages that VMD prints on your machine? I haven't run into any
problem like this, so we need to compare the details between the way
VMD 1.8.2 runs on your machine and the way VMD 1.8.3 runs on the same
machine. If you're not running the two on the same machine, you may
have discovered a limitation of the video card or OpenGL driver on
the machine you're running VMD 1.8.3 on.
