  I get the same results with the ATI drivers running on regular
XFree86, it's a serious bug in their drivers, and I've reported it to
them several times over the last year, but they still haven't fixed it yet.
(It starts corrupting the screen even without running VMD!!!!)
If your problem is similar, the only recourse is probably to report
the problem to XIG, since it's their driver at fault. That's certainly
what I'd recommend. You should probably be able to reproduce the problem
with other software, or likely you could ask them to download VMD and
run it in stereo like you're doing and see if they can reproduce the problem
with VMD on a test machine in their lab.
