Hi:
I am trying to use VMD for doing some analysis of my simulation. I notice
that VMD was able to write the resid in hexadecimal but it is not able to
read it back. I decided to edit the pdb plugin so can be use for my
analysis.

I was able to compiled the new pdb plugin. In order to be able to test it
in vmd, I need to compile VMD with the new plug in or just put it in the
plug in molfile directory of the precompiled VMD?
