Dear Rodney and VMD-L,
Just last night we got the newest version of FLTK, 1.1.0rc7, and
it now contains some fixes for MacOS 10.2. Justin built it on his
new Mac laptop (also running 10.2) and it worked for him. At this
very moment I'm updating our build scripts to use the new version of
FLTK. If all goes well, I should have a new native MacOS X version
to let people try in the next day or so. It'll take us a short time
to test this new code and make sure its generally before we go as far
as building a new bundle etc. Another bit of interesting news is that
they released Tcl and Tk version 8.4.0 the other week, and the new release
includes support for MacOS X, so in theory we should be able to get Tk
working on the native builds of MacOS X finally, though I had tried
previously with a beta/test branch of the Tk CVS tree and ran into a
number of problems. If I succeed this time, the rest of the plugins
etc would become available on MacOS X. I'll announce as soon as we
have a working version that runs on MacOS 10.2. We're also in the
process of fixing other bugs that have cropped up due to fast pace
changes we've been making in the user interface and other parts of VMD.

Thanks,
  John Stone
