Supported Output Formats

VMD can write input files for the following popular rendering packages

• ART
• Rayshade
• Raster3D
• Pixar's Renderman
• POV-Ray
• Radiance
• Tachyon
• VRML 1.0, 2.0, and VRML97
• Lightwave 3-D

This output can be used to produce photorealistic images suitable for journal publication, movies, posters, film recorders, etc.

In addition VMD can render SGI .rgb and Windows .BMP images of the display, write direct PostScript files of the scene, and generate stereo-lithography files corresponding to solvent accessible molecular surfaces.
