the difference of PCA and EDA

Dear all:
We usually need to analyze the intrinsic collective motions from a trajectory.
Does anybody know the difference between Principal Component Analysis and Essential Dynamic Analysis for a trajectory?
Principal component analysis (PCA) is a statistical procedure that uses an orthogonal transformation to convert a set of observations of possibly correlated variables
into a set of values of linearly uncorrelated variables called principal components.
 What about EDA?

  Thanks
 Xiaoying
