Pair interaction calculation - Direction of the force

Dear All,
I am a little confused about the direction of the force on the atom group 1 during NAMD pair interaction calculations. If I get a negative value, does that mean force between the group 1 and the group 2 are attractive? Or does that mean simply the direction of the force on the atom group 1 is negative?.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.!
